Stock your vehicle in the event you drive off the road and are staying still for a while. You will need more than a charged cell phone! An ice scraper, a snow shovel, jumper cables, a flashlight, deicing windshield washing solution and a bag of salt or sand should already be in the trunk. It is a good idea to have a lighter, flares, and some reflective triangles set aside. Keep a blanket, extra gloves, hats, another coat, an emergency blanket in a dry bag stashed in your trunk with some water, energy bars, perhaps a first aid kit.
